The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Occupations List has been updated for February 2015. The list will be effective from 10th February 2015.

The number of open occupations on the ACT Occupations List has decreased but there is a slight variation in the skill type and industry sector of the occupations that are currently in demand.

We have been informed that the ACT Skilled Migration Program will give preference to Canberra residents, or their immediate family living overseas who can demonstrate good employment prospects.

The key points are:

• Decreased open occupations on the ACT Occupations List
• You must be living in Canberra for at least 3 months before you can apply for Nomination
• If you are living in Canberra, but you do not hold a visa with work rights; you can apply for ACT nomination if you have a genuine job offer with an ACT employer in askilled occupation. The job offer does not have to be in the nominated occupation.
• Your Expression of Interest (EOI) must be submitted on SkillSelect before you apply for ACT nomination
• You must select the ACT as your preferred location to live in Australia.

The process for State Nomination can vary from State to State so we advise to:

1. Read the guidelines carefully.
2. Ensure you meet the requirements of a 189 or 190 visa.
3. Obtain the relevant documents
4. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)
5. When invited, submit all relevant evidence and documents at time of application
